First Day of School Tradition

The first day of school is coming up soon for my kiddos, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite traditions…The First Day of School Fairy!🧚‍♀️

This is the first time the First Day of School Fairy came to our house. Little Averi cried, “I’m too tired for fairies today!” The next year, she was up bright and early, excited for the fairy to visit!

When my children wake up on the first day of school, a trail of glow-in-the-dark pixie dust leads from our front door to the kitchen table where the First Day of School Fairy has left a note, a sign for each child to hold up for the first day of school pictures, a special treat for lunch boxes, and some fun things like flavored chapstick, fun locker decorations, or special fun pens that are never ‘on the list’ when we are shopping for school supplies.

We’ve been doing this tradition since our oldest, Keelie, started Kindergarten. Since the other kiddos were too little to go to school, the First Day of School Fairy brought some fun things so they could “play school” at home while their big sister went to school.

This year, Keelie will start 8th grade and my baby will be going into 3rd grade. Even though they are older, I’ll keep this tradition going for as long as I can. Heck, if I can get away with it, the first day of school fairy will have some special treats for their dorm when they head off to college. 😁

The kids wake up excited to see what the first day of school fairy has left them!

Look at these happy faces so early in the morning! 😁❤️

What are some of your favorite first day of school traditions?
